Underwriter/Portfolio Officer is responsible for negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the closing of commercial loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures; to develop business checking and deposit relationships with customers; and to promote business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
DUTIES
· Underwrite new loans and develop new customer relationships. · Service credit needs of existing and new customers. · Consult with clients for financial and credit analysis, validate valuations of collateral. · Coordinate with Loan Originator/Business Developing Officer and prepare loan write-ups for management and loan committee review. · Assist Business Development Officer/Branch Manager in implementing business plan and marketing strategy to achieve the Bank’s financial objectives and CRA goals. · Manage existing client relationships/loan portfolios; maintain adequate and complete filing and documentation including annual renewal and regular loan/financial covenants. · Monitor/review existing account to detect potential problems and suspicious activities; apply problem account administration according to regulations and the Bank’s policies and procedures. · Cross sell other Bank products and services. · Provide leadership, training and support to less experienced staff members within the assigned branch’s lending unit. · Follow the Bank’s BSA policy. · Accept other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor, credit administration and executive management.
Education: Bachelor degree in Business Administration or Finance is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in originating and underwriting commercial loans, including commercial term loans, construction loans, line of credit, etc. and deposit with a track record of business development.
Skills/Ability: Extensive knowledge of financial analysis, economic trend, loan origination with business development skills. PC proficient in Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is preferred.

Managing customer services and operations functions of the assigned branch, Assistant Operations Officer ensures operations activities run smoothly and efficiently by coordinating staff for coverage in all related areas of branch operations, reviewing and approving transactions within guidelines, reviewing daily operations reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance and staff adherence to Bank policies and procedures.
DUTIES
· Manage the operations functions of the branch to ensure the highest level of customer service, operating efficiencies, and compliance with the Bank’s operating standards and regulatory requirements. · Ensure the branch effectively manages the risks associated with each customer relationship. Utilize good judgment to ensure that any potential loss situation that could adversely affect the Bank is given an adequate level of visibility with senior management as well as appropriate units within the Bank. · Ensure sound operating conditions are maintained in the branch by utilizing the timely completion of monthly branch certifications and operational reviews. · Assist in attaining established Bank and branch goals through cross-selling. · Meet with staff on regular basis to discuss new and existing products, service productivity and client relations/satisfaction. Advise management on issues affecting customer service to ensure the timely research and resolution of problems. Identify and recommend methods to improve effectiveness, efficiency and program(s) productivity. · Provide guidance and assistance to branch colleagues in resolving procedural and personnel administration problems. Provide instruction and cross training on Bank procedures and banking regulations. Ensure performance reviews/evaluations of the branch’s non-officer staff are completed timely, objectively and with proper emphasis on individual development, coaching skills, customer servicing skills, and sales/referral activities. · May serve as Safety and/or Security Officer for the branch. · Prepare BSA related monitoring reports. · Accept other duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor.
Education: College degree with business classes preferred but not required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of bank branch operations experience with transactions approval authority and supervisory responsibility. Skills/Ability: Thorough knowledge of bank branch operations-related regulations and bank products, and good verbal/written communication skills in English and/or Chinese. ** Salary Range: $54K to $58K per year; EOE
