Founded in 2007, American Plus Bank, N.A. is an independent, customer oriented community bank headquartered in Arcadia, California, providing financial solutions to the individual and business communities in San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas in Los Angeles County. Our customer service team consists of experienced, community rooted bankers who excel in providing customized, flexible and prompt banking solutions for each one of our customers.
We specialize in providing both individual and business banking products, including a wide selection of depository accounts designed to meet your personal or business financial plans and a full array of loan products (commercial lines of credit, international trade financing, construction and long-term commercial real estate loans, etc.) to facilitate your business growth and investment objective. We also provide electronic cash management services through the Internet using state-of-the-art Internet banking technology.

Management Team
John nerland, President & CEO
Mr. Nerland brings with him 35 years of experience in bank management, lending, credit administration and business banking. Before joining American Plus Bank, Mr. Nerland was previously President and CEO of Mega Bank from 2019-2020, President and Chief Operating Officer of Pacific Commerce Bank from 2015-2018 prior to its sale to First Choice Bank. He was also President and Chief Credit Officer of Bank of Manhattan from 2011 to 2015, prior to its sale to Plaza Bank. Mr. Nerland served as President and Chief Executive Officer for California Oaks State Bank from 2007 to 2010, until the sale of that bank to California United Bank. From 2002-2007, Mr. Nerland was President and CEO of Solano Bank, Vacaville, California and Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of The Vintage Bank in Napa Valley, California. Both Solano Bank and The Vintage Bank were owned by North Bay Bancorp, which was sold to Umpqua Bank in 2007. Mr. Nerland also held various positions for Civic Bank of Commerce from 1999 to 2002 including Regional Manager and various positions with WestAmerica Bank from 1986 to 1999, including Regional Vice President of WestAmerica’s San Rafael Region. Mr. Nerland received his B.S. in finance from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.

SANDY HWANG, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CLO
Ms. Hwang has more than thirty years of extensive experience in all facets of lending, credit and loan administration, work-out loans management, loan documentation and loan compliance. Most recently, she served as EVP and Chief Credit Officer at Los Angeles National Bank. Prior to this, Ms. Hwang was a member of the organizing team of First Choice Bank, where she served as EVP and Chief Credit Officer from 2005 to 2011. Previously she served as EVP and Chief Credit Administrator of First Continental Bank from 1991 to 2003 and Vice President and Credit Administrator of Los Angeles National Bank from 1982 to 1991. Ms. Hwang holds a BA degree from University of California, in Los Angeles.

JIE LIN, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CFO
Mr. Lin has over 20 years of operational and managerial banking experience in both the United States and China. He joined American Plus Bank as a director in November 2011. Subsequently he served as CRA and Compliance Committee chairman from 2013 to 2015, ALCO Committee chairman from 2015 to September 2019, Assistant CFO from October 2019 to June 2021 and CFO since July 2021. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for China Minsheng Bank Limited in Fuzhou from 2001 to 2008 and served as Branch Manager for Guangda and Dongjie branches since 2006. Before that, he worked for Bank of Communications Limited in Fuzhou from 1996 to 2001. Mr. Lin holds an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University.

ANDY LIN, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CCO
Mr. Lin brings with him extensive experience in banking, commercial lending, financial/credit analysis, and asset resolution. Mr. Lin served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer from 2016 to 2022 and Chief Lending Officer from 2012 to 2016 of Pacific Alliance Bank. Prior to that he served in senior executive management positions at four other Southern California financial institutions concentrating in commercial lending from 1996 to 2012. Mr. Lin received his Bachelor’s degree of Financial Management from California State University Fullerton in 1989.
